Jamia Masjid Kudroli (Mangalore)

India / Karnataka / Mangaluru / Mangalore

Jamia Masjid Kudroli, has been built based on the Mughal architectural model, possessing striking resemblance to the renowned Delhi Jama Masjid. The masjid possesses 134 ft minarets to go with an attractive dome and long arcs.

Jamia Masjid, refers to the weekly Friday noon congregation prayers of Muslims, Jummah, which are usually done in a mosque, the "congregational mosque" or "jāmia' masjid".

History:
Old name 'Jodu Palli' (twin mosques) in Kudroli has a history of over 200 years from the time of Tipu Sulthan. Soldiers of Tipu’s army patrolling the nearby Sultan Battery needed a prayer hall to offer prayers and hence a masjid was constructed at Kudroli. Over the years, due to lack of space, another masjid was built next to it and the two mosques started functioning under two separate Jamaths. The decision to construct a new mosque was taken way back in 2006 after obtaining approval from the Wakf Board.
