Wiebbe Haye's Fort, on West Wallabi Island, Houtman Abrolhos (Western Australia) is the oldest known European-built structure in Australia. Built in 1629 in the aftermath of the wreck of the "Batavia", and the subsequent massacres of 125 survivors by a group of mutineers, Wiebbe Hayes led a group of soldiers and other survivors to fight off the mutineers. This structure is the remains of his fort.
