Built in 1524-1525 to resemble the Kremlin's Cathedral of the Assumption, the façades are divided into sections by pilasters and a row of decorative brickwork. Rounded zakomari arches with narrow slit windows top the white walls. Its unique feature is the high terrace above the ground floor on which the entire structure sits. This semi-basement served as the final resting place for many wealthy nobles and members of the royal family. Along the eastern wall is the three-part apse, which encompasses the main altar and two side chapels.
