Founded in 1945 as the original site of Sherman E. Burroughs High School, this site was converted to a Jr. High School in 1960 when Sherman E. Burroughs High School moved to its present location at Knox Rd. and Burroughs Ave (both roads subsequently subsumed by the high school parking lot - whose location (the school) is now at Drummond Ave. and French Ave). It was known as Murray Jr. High School until 1995, when it was renamed Murray Middle School.
