Excelsior is a city in Hennepin County, Minnesota with 2,188 residents (Census 2010). It was founded in the 1850s as a resort town. Since then, the area around it has grown into a suburban community, but Excelsior itself is still more small town than suburb. Water Street is the main commercial strip and has a number of (relatively high-end) small businesses.
