This was originally the main shaft for the Cason Gold Mines which had claim 204 cls. This mine was eventually taken over by Sir George Farrar’s East Rand Proprietary Mines. The attached picture shows that the Cason Gold Mines 204 Rf cls. lease is directly north of Boksburg Lake, and that is where the shaft is within that old mine lease area.
