Originally known as the Dalton Street Annex, the Post Office building was at one time connected to Union Terminal by a covered truck ramp and conveyor bridge that carried sacks of mail. During the 1960s the U.S. Postal Service began to move all mail by air, and the last shipment of mail by rail arrived on November 17, 1967.

Constructed in 1933, the Post Office building features a reinforced concrete structure faced with sandstone and a granite base. There are stone carved American eagles above the doorways. Located to the south of the main building is a buff brick tower and a truck terminal which were constructed in the late 1960s. In the 1980s all the administrative offices were moved to the complex and it became the main Cincinnati post office.
