In 1917, O.M. Stafford , president of the nearby Worsted Mills donated $25,000 to fund the construction of the Broadway United Methodist Church. This Neo-Gothic revival style church was know for its outreach to recent immigrants in the area, and its full sized copy of "The Last Supper". In November of 2010, the congregation announced the church would soon be closed, due to declining membership.
