The Ukrainian Labor Temple, completed in 1927, is located at West 11th Street and Auburn Avenue in Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood. It served as both a Ukrainian cultural center and a locus for multi-ethnic radical labor movements in Cleveland. Ukrainians began settling in Cleveland towards the end of the nineteenth century, and more came in the years between World War l and World War ll. Many were political emigrés, and ideological conflict sometimes occurred in Cleveland between the successive waves of Ukrainian immigrants until a clear anti-Communist consensus took shape in the years following World War ll. In 1989, the building was purchased and converted into an art studio/living space.
