Albion was originally a great Scottish truck manufacturer, that eventually got sucked into the giant behemoth that was British Leyland, and somehow managed to survive its implosion in the 1970s. Today it is owned by American Axle Manufacturing (AAM) Corporation.

Albion's days as a truck maker are long gone, and the Scotstoun plant has changed through various guises over the last 30 years. Used to employ thousands now down to 200-300...

  • This plant was originally built by Coventry Ordnance Works to supply materials to Clyde Shipbuilders. Later taken over by Harland & Wolff and sed as engine building works in conjuction with their huge Clyde Foundry (Govan), Finnieston Engine Works and Clyde shipyards (Govan, Pointhouse and Meadowside)
  • Albion buses made here in the 1950s and 1960s.
