The General Electric Company, or GE is an American multinational conglomerate corporation incorporated in the State of New York. The Company operates through five segments: Energy Infrastructure, Technology Infrastructure, Capital Finance and Consumer & Industrial. It is one of the largest companies in the world. It is the world's largest maker of locomotives, jet engines, medical-imaging equipment and related information technology systems. As of 2010, the company has employs more than 280,000 employees worldwide.

General Electric established its Malaysian business in 1975. It has invested heavily in Malaysia which exceeded RM1 billion mark in 2010. The company work closely with local infrastructure providers, supplying equipment and services to TNB (www.tnb.com.my/), Petronas (www.petronas.com.my/), KTM (www.ktmb.com.my/) and local water authorities. The GE Healthcare division supplies private and public hospitals with diagnostic imaging equipment and healthcare information systems, while the lighting division supports key stadiums and ports. Today more than 1,000 Malaysians work for GE within the country and throughout the world.
