The Dixie Terminal Building was built in 1921 as a terminal for streetcar traffic from Northern Kentucky. Designed by Garber and Woodward, the complex was made up of two buildings, a four story building where the street cars entered and a ten story building on East Fourth Street containing the ticket office and other offices, including the offices of the Cincinnati Street Railway Company. The streetcars stopped running in the 1950s but the terminal was used for buses until 1998.

The highly ornate Renaissance Revival style building includes a barrel vaulted entrance and a three level 35`by 225`arcade. The front doors are trimmed with locally produced Rockwood tiles, while the arcade features marble floors and a highly decorated ceiling. Built of reinforced concrete, the exterior of the building is covered with limestone, gray brick and granite.

The arcade was used as the setting of the scene in the film Rainman where Tom Cruise discovers the terms of his father`s will.
