This Marunthuvazh Malai forms the southern tip of the Western Ghats. It is a medicinal hill which is a fragment of the Sanjeevi Mountain, which fell down here when Hanuman took it(Sanjeevi Mountain) to Lanka as per legendary.

Also, this is commonly believed to be the 'Parvatha Ucchi Malai' which is mentioned in Akilathirattu Ammanai, the holy text of Ayyavazhi.

  • This is also a place where great siddha's and yogi's do penance. I have read that there are lots of caves in this place. But one can sight them only if s/he is a blessed soul.
  • I would like to visit this place. seems interesting and nice tourist attraction
