Verket is an innovative modern museum and exhibition centre based in the old ironworks in the centre of Avesta. Interactive high technology exhibitions in the old blast furnace section take the visitor on exciting journey in which they learn about the working conditions and processes involved in iron production. Another part of the works has been converted into an exhibition gallery that hosts cutting edge contemporary art exhibitions and festivals. There is a cafeteria here and a shop selling a range of high quality souvenirs. The centre has received international attention and awards.
