This is Ipoh tree, after which the city is named. Its scientific name is 'Antiaris Toxicarial'. In the old days, Ipoh trees can be found everywhere, but due to its poisonous nature, many of this trees were cut down as the city expands. The tree sap is used by the "orang asli" (native tribe) on their blow darts as weapon to kill people. In China, this plant is known as 'Arrow Poison Wood', it is regularly employed as a poison for arrows during warfare. Today, there are only two of these trees left, one is here, and the other can be found in Taman D.R. Seenivasagam.
