  Anyone know who built the estate?

  Kirk & Kirk of Upper Richmond Road Putney (Ernest Marples the minister of transport was the major shareholder). Their builders yard is now a gated community beside the Arab Boy pub, the site was so big that they needed a lorry onsite to move equipment from one part of the site to another part, many times I was allocated as a driver to the site, that was 1965/66, they had a huge canteen onsite for the workers, great food and cheap to, most of the time I slept in the cab of my 7 ton Bedford TK except when Sammy the fitter woke me up to move say a four wheel compressor to another location or a load of steel girders, there may have been other construction companies involved on the site as it was huge, covered a very large area.
