At this facility, coal mined from the Quintette Coal mine was cleaned and then loaded onto unit coal trains for transport to Ridley Island coal terminal in Prince Rupert.

Since the mine closed in 2000, the facility has been kept on standby awaiting a resumption of mining, now scheduled for 2013. It was used briefly for processing Peace River Coal Company's Trend Mine coal before they built their own plant.
