Designed by Mario Coyula, Emilio Escobar, Sonia Dominguez & Armando Hernandez, the Park of the Martyrs (1965) is a memorial to the long and bloody student rebellion which culminated in the triumph of the Revolution in 1959. Using wide "ribbons" of concrete to trace the chronological path of the rebellion that is all but invisible in some places and very prominent in other places. The architects had strong connection to many of the martyrs.
