Kammavaripalem

India / Andhra Pradesh / Chilakalurupet /

Several villages exist with this name in the State of Andhra Pradesh. However, this village is tagged as "Kotappa Konda Kammavari Palem". Just like many other villages in Guntur, this village is home for lot of commercial crops such as Tobacco, Cotton. Due to the climatic conditions, these crops are not seen around these days. At present, this village depends upon the "Subabul" crop for it wealth. Recently (2005) Marble and Granite Stone excavation is also under full swing in this village.

This village has relatives and relations with some eastern villages of Krishna District near Machilipatnam such as Challapalli, Nimmagadda, Mangalapuram, Kaptanuvari Palem, Ramudu Palem, Nadakuduru, another Kamma Vari Palem near Nandigama. Some other villages in Guntur District such as Maddirala, Chilakaluri Peta, Malempativari Palem, Swarna also have relations with Kammavari Palem.

For several decades, Walking path via form lands is the only access to this village. Later on, a road next to the Canal connected this village to Chilakaluri Peta - Narasarao Peta High Way. Fifteen Years ago (1985), a Cement Road connected this village to the same High Way near Govinda Puram.

Currently (2004), this village is well equipped with Cement Roads, Drainage System, Drinking Water Facilities, School and Library. All was done with the unity and hard work of the Villagers with the "Janma Bhoomi" assistance from the Government. Ganapathi Temple and Rama Temple serve Hindu Religion Worshipers.

As a tradition, during Siva Ratri celebrations at near by Kotappa Konda, this village was allways represented with a Great Big Size "Prabha".

  • I am not sure where I fit in but my grand father Chapalamadugu Kondaiah migrated from a village called Kammavaripalem at the foot hills of a temple on the hill. the villegers are mostly vegetarians. My grandfather, father, uncles and my siblings stay vegetarians. My grand father moved to another village called Kammavaripalm near Nandigama. I am one of his grand children. I have been in usa for over 40 yr. All the children of Kondaiah passed away except my father Chapalamadugu Narasaiah currently alive at age about 95 and live in Hyderabad. My grand father developed the land next to his home with a large well. My father aquird the land and well and converted it tino citras grove. Land was sold along with the house. But the people dismantles the house, sold the timber and left the land barren. It is heart breaking to see what happened. It is my utmost desire to aquire the land and develop into a spiritual center but the land now is too expensive. Hope good times come back to this village. Thank you all for reading the story.
  • I think that my grand father Chapalamadugu Kondaiah was from Uttaradi Kammavaripalem. He migrated to Dakshanadi Kammavaripalem, near Nandigama. I used hear the names vaguly from our parents discussions sometimes. I think we all who left the villages have the responsibility to rebuild the villages. I wish you all the best.
  • Ok aunts I am also grand son of Ramiah hope u can do it.
