"Hudson View" (Croton-on-Hudson, New York)

The house was built in 1928 or 1929 for a family named Strong, and sold to the International Ladies Garment Workers Union in 1943. For decades, it was used as a retreat for union members. (Croton-on-Hudson was something of a haven for communists, socialists and artists; Jack Reed had a place here.) The main features are: double height living room, mezzanine and symmetrical staircases, twin fireplaces, beamed ceilings with original Native American stenciling.
