Pan American Building - 1895 (Los Angeles, California)

USA / California / Vernon / Los Angeles, California / South Broadway, 249
 building, historic landmark

249 S. Broadway
Los Angeles, CA 90013

Constructed in 1895 as part of the Irvine Bryne block, it was the second office building to be built in the area. Giant Penny Stores was located on the first floor of the building from the '60s until 2004. During WWII, it was the home of the Mexican consulate. The old offices have since been converted into the Pan American Lofts.

The Pan American was also part of Blade Runner (although the Giant Penny isn't shown, Pris is standing in front of it while she watches Deckard walk into the Bradbury Building across the street) and Seven (the "sloth" victim is found here).
