Biltmore House is a French Renaissance inspired chateau near Asheville, North Carolina, built by George Washington Vanderbilt between 1888 and 1895. It is the largest privately owned house in the United States at 178,926 ft² of floor space and 135,280 ft² of living area. As of 2026 it is still owned by George Vanderbilt's descendants.

The home includes many architectural marvels, not the least of which is an indoor swimming pool, a bowling alley and many hidden passageways.
