The earliest mention of the domain dates from 1089.

On a map (1561-1571) the castle is well depicted with the "Spijkersdreef"
giving access to a farmyard with stables, located behind is a fortified castle
with pointed stair tower and gatehouse.
Due to decay in 18th century the castle was demolished.
The Mayor of Sint-Kruis orders to rebuild the castle (1870-1873)
