  • Best hobby store I ever visited, I'm sorry to see it's gone...
  • I miss that place like crazy. It was the one of the best jobs that I've ever had.
  • That place was "KILLER"!!!!
  • I just googled this store because I have so many fond memories. I am from South America and my father took me there and I went totally crazy. That was 40 years ago. I am planning to visit the US and wanted to visit this store but it is gone.
  • I remember going there a few times and I remember it being one of the greatest hobby stores ever. Too bad times took it's toll and it had to close its doors, so sad
  • I was very sadden to hear from his family that the former owner Mr. LEWIS QUICK passed away last week in the orient, a great guy and a true friend I will miss him for the rest of my days until we meet again in that big Hobby Store in the sky.
  • I worked in the Radio Control Department from 1974 until the store closed in Oct 2001. I could write a book about my experiences there but sadly no one would read it since The old fashion hobby shops are no longer viable. I really feel sorry for the young people today and all the things they are missing.
  • At 80 I bought my first RC helicopter to an Argentine salesman named Jorge Robles. Sorry closure. Alfredo Fonré, Mina Clavero, Córdoba, Argentina
  • Yes, I remember Orange Blossom. What a magnificent place for a kid (50 years ago). I remember the models and especially when you could buy a brand new 1/24 Cox Cheetah - the most beautiful slot car ever made.
  • My father, Jack Sawyer, and I used to frequent Orange Blossom Hobbies (aka "OB") for years. This was before my time but my father told me that they used to be across the street and moved into the bowling alley to expand. I assume this happened in the late 1950s or early 1960s. It appears, based on google maps that it's been torn down. Lots of good memories of talking hobbies in OB. Buying on the internet denies many of that kind of social interaction and brainstorming.
  • Hey Les, I remember you from my many visits there. I always remember seeing you behind the counter, still sticks in mu mind.I do miss it so much, such good memories of the place.
  • i remember les,he was very knowledagable, grew up in that place,we called it.ob,sucks that everyone ,not everyone but most people were stealing, best hobby shop ever.
  • I went there 1n the 1960s to buy a slot car, I was I was around 14 and have been going there un till they closed. Very sad. I then went to Crown hobbies and hobby pro. Now that Crown has closed I drive all the way to hobby pro by Tamiami airport. I thought orange blossom hobby would be here for ever!
  • Les,I remember you from the hobby shop as well as Dave (rc boats)) augie(train debt) and gary in rc cars..kind of grew up with you guys when I was a youngster..after orange blossom closed you then went up to the hobby shop on university drive where I seen you several years ago...email me at..stevenmark2243@yahoo.com...by the way, purchased my first ever rc car from orange blossom in 1975..it was a jerobee commando rtr car...remember those???....steve
  • I believe the Orange Blossom Hobby Shop was owned by the Quick family. Classmate Louis Quick, Miami Edison 1959, ran it for years & now lives in Taiwan (last contact). Amazing place with high end brass locomotives, etc. Louis said many sales were to Latin Americans who were flying out & couldn’t purchase similar items in their home country.
