This is the top of the old Rimutaka Incline railway formation . Before the Rimutaka tunnel was built , this was a small , but busy station that employed Fell engines to act as brakes for downhill trains , and to pull uphill trains .
There is a small kiosk at the site , and some railway remains , but nobody lives here anymore .
There is a Fell locomotive museum at Featherston , which has alot more information about the locos , and of the Rimutaka Incline
