  • The Furman University football team played in this facility from the 1930's until the early 1980's. When constructed, it was the second largest facility in the state of South Carolina. Furman played host to football teams from North Carolina, Georgia, South Carolin, Clemson, among others in this building. For years, this site was the location of the Thanksgiving Day game between the two city schools, Parker High and Greenville High. The first televised sporting event in the state was one of these games. Often crowds exceeded nearly 20,000 for Parker v Greenville games. The facility has also been the location of semi professional soccer action in recent years.
