From "Mines and Prospects of the Andrews Mountain, Mazourka, and Paiute Roadless Areas, Inyo County, California," U.S. Geological Survey, 1987, by Steven W. Schmauch:

Paleozoic dolomite, shale, and limestone strike northwest and dip 40° to 75° SW., with local overturning of some strata. Crystalline dolomite crops out over an area about 1 mile long, and is 1,000 feet thick. Major northwest-trending faults and overturning of beds have intensely fractured and brecciated the rocks.

Workings: Quarry development covers approximately 15 acres and is on four bench levels with about 1,000 feet of bulldozer trenches. Older workings investigated parts of major faults and the igneous-sedimentary contacts. They include three short caved shafts, an 8 foot adit, and two pits. The owner states an unknown amount of marble was produced in the 1950's. In 1978, Mr. LaVigne produced 250 tons of marble chips, used for terrazzo aggregate.
