A former lead-silver mine in the Darwin district. The active production period was 1917 to 1923 and was last claimed by Theodore Peterson before it was sold to the Department of the Interior in the 1950s.

From the California Journal of Mines and Geology, Vol. 47, No. 1, Jan. 1951:

Owners: Sterling Mining Co., Trona, CA (1938)

A 4 to 6-foot quartz vein strikes N 30 degrees E, dips 60 degrees E along a quartz monzonite-limestone contact. Worked by 2 shafts, 285 feet and 120 feet deep, related drifts and stopes, (1938). Ore minerals consist of argentite and silver bromide, assaying $8.00 to $15.00 in silver.
