The main branch of the Windsor public library system which includes 9 other locations throughout the city. The library system boasts over 100,000 active users which is well ahead of the Ontario average. The present building is the 3rd central library. Originally established on Ferry Street in 1894 the library moved to Park Street in 1903 with the opening of a new Carnegie financed building.

The three storey, 101,467 sq. ft. building was designed by architects Johnson and McWhinnie and opened in 1972. As well as providing library services it houses the City Archives and the Windsor Woodcarving Museum.

Before 1972, this was the site of the Ursuline School of Music.
