The city of Warman is situated 15km north of Saskatoon at the junction of Highways 11 and 305. This community was originally known as Diamond due to the intersecting of the Humboldt-North Battleford and Prince Albert-Regina rail lines. In 1905 Canadian Northern Railway Officials renamed the community "Warman" in recognition of Cy Warman, a journalist who followed and recorded the construction of the Canadian National Railway. On July 31, 1906 the community of Warman was officially incorporated as a town.
The population as of the 2011 census was 7,084, well above the 5000 threshold for status as a city. Warman was granted city status on October 27, 2012.
