This is the pavilion building and memorial park dedicated to the memory of the 27 people killed in the May 27th 1997 Jarrell F5 tornado. It features a dedicatory plaque with the names of all the victims.
The building stands on the former location of the Igo family's home, which was completely destroyed by the tornado, killing all five members (father, wife and three children) as they sheltered inside. The property was donated to the city by the Igos' grieving relatives with the intent that a memorial be built, which it was.
