A pioneering concept in the 1970's, the City decided to group all of its to be built sports stadiums in a dedicated area away from downtown, but integrated with public transport, surface street and expressway access. The Sports Complex is now approaching 40 years old with its second generation of stadiums and areas. Reduces construction costs for new venues by providing a ready made site that does not require additional infrastructure improvements.
