2-story fire station completed in 1974. It is clad in reddish-brown brick. The facade facing the avenue has a 2-story section at the south, with a recessed, bright red, double garage door. At the 2nd floor there is a band of short windows extending from the left, ending in two taller panes at the right. The north half of the facade, the 1-story section, is capped by a metal coping and has a red pedestrian door and smaller garage door, both recessed. To the left of the doors is a window at the corner of the recessed area, and a bronze bas-relief depicting firefighters at the World Trade Center site on 9/11.

The north facade has a window at the west corner, from which extends a band of short windows for four panes. Further east is another band of windows, shorter at the east end. This roof line is also capped by a metal coping. The 2nd floor extends out to the north, set back behind the first, and there is a lower section of the west end that is clad in white metal siding with a north-facing single-windows, and two west-facing single-windows. The further-back east part of the 2nd floor has another band of windows. At the east end on 48th Street there is a low brick wall with brown wooden fencing on top, interrupted by a yellow metal gate. A flagpole is mounted on the wall at the northwest corner.

The "Broadway firehouse" from which 13 firefighters, a captain, a lieutenant, and two battalion chiefs made the supreme sacrifice on 11 September 2001. As a reminder to their loss, the riding lists from 9/10/01 were preserved in-situ on the wall. The interior was used for a remote segment of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon".
