Map of the Manzano Open Space: four-hills-village.com/openspace/MOS_Map_Wrapper.html.
In April 2001 the Manzano Open Space became the only Open Space in Albuquerque
to have publicly accessible roads through it. This was done by Judge Wendy York
to allow developers access to their land to the North and East so they could sell lots,
even though they have access from old Route 66 to the North. To date, no development
has taken place and the Open Space is being destroyed by party-goes and off-road
vehicles. The Four Hills Village Homeowner's Association is working to get the gate
at the end of Stagecoach Rd. SE restored so the Manzano Open Space can once again be
enjoyed as the taxpayers who purchased it intended: By foot, bike or horseback,
not by off-road vehicle.

  • the City has put a gate to stop cars from going into this place from the Stagecoach Road parking lot so yes it pays sometimes to fight City hall grin...
  • I always take a hike through here when I'm in town. Nice trail passing flowering cacti. Nice views of the city.
