The palace of the Flavian family, built for the emperor's public life. There are 3 principal areas: the Lararium, the Aula Regia, and the Basilica. Lararium derives from the 'Lares' guardian deitied of Roman households. The Aula Regia was the room for public audiences, and the Basilica was for meetings of the emperor's council.
