This intersection with U.S. Route 340 (Stonewall Jackson Highway) is the northern terminus of Skyline Drive (unsigned Virginia Route 48), which runs from here to Interstate 64 in Augusta County near Waynesboro, Virginia. The Blue Ridge Parkway continues from that point so that one can drive from here to Cherokee, North Carolina, without leaving national park land.
