  • Its really nostalgic to read and think about Chaurmanya. That is the place I spent the challenging yet best part of my childhood in the Primary school and the Middle school (up to 8th). I walked through a steep hill of 1 KM and a narrow forest road of another KM to reach the school often alone from my beautiful village Khanatari. Challenges that one can't even imagine today ...........But those challenges taught me realize what life is all about and to face difficult times. Today Almighty with the blessings of my parents, especially (Iza) Mother has enabled me to do what I enjoy and cherish most. There were two Government Primary schools one for boys and one for girls and one partially Govt. aided Middle school. It may be difficult for the readers to believe that only 4 girls studied with us in class 8 in 1968-1969! All of them in saries!! Occasionally in salwar kameez. There was only one shop of Sh Tara Datt Chaudasiji (Tari Tauji). Khanatari was then a tiny village comprising 5 families. Three of them Dhariyal families. It is a self sufficient village in all respect except things like salt, soap etc.. though for a small population. I enjoyed swimming in the small river flowing along the periphery of the village. I too liked to spend time at the Ghat (Panchakki) and fishing and playing Kanche, Gulli Danda with my cousin Kailash Da. I miss all of that and my parents, Amma (dadi). I hope this gets uploaded as I am doing it for the first time. I would like to acknowledge the write up by Nittada (Sh Nityanand JI) and Deepak.
