523-foot, 40-story neo-classical office tower built in 1927. When it opened, 35 East Wacker (aka the Jeweler's Building) contained an automated 22-level car lift that jewelry merchants could use to make safe transfers of merchandise.
And we are told home to the offices of architect Helmut Jahn - his showroom is within the very ornate cupola.

This 40-story building was the tallest outside of New York City at the time of its construction. The building's terra cotta-clad, classical design marks it as one of the most prominent high-rise statements of the so-called City Beautiful Movement. It is also the most notable work of the partnership of Joachim Giaver and Frederick Dinkelberg, who had spent most of their architectural careers with the firm of D.H. Burnham & Company.
