An excellent place to get away. There are nature trails and biking trails. It connects to the cross island trail. There is a breathtaking view of the bay bridge. Most evenings you can see deer and other wildlife. There is a pond with blinds for viewing the birds. An excellent place to spend a few hours on a spring evening.

Terrapin Park sits on 276 acres of Bay front land north of the Kent Island Terminus of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. The park includes over 4,000 feet of shoreline and 73 acres of wetlands, making it a destination for nature and wildlife enthusiasts. From the two observation blinds which border the tidal ponds, herons, ospreys, swans, turtles, bullfrogs and a variety of songbirds can be seen.

  • The park is open from dawn to dusk - it has gates that are closed at night. There is a sign at the entrance but if you are not looking for it, you can miss it. There is parking for approximately 30-40 cars. Many people windsurf, bring their dogs, and/or fish in the bay. We enjoy riding our bikes and running our dogs - currently one section of the trail is under construction but there is plenty to do. Right before school starts, the KIHS men's running team will run along the trail through the woods.
