Comments

  • The location for Mount Taylor is indicated here incorrectly. This peak is a related but dissimilar volcanic center, and is substantially lower in elevation. The Mount Taylor peak is found about 5 miles east northeastward, along the western edge of the stratovolcano's crater.
  • Moved and resized the box on January 3, 2007. It should be correct now.
  • The uranium ore deposits in the Grants area extend eastward under the Mt Taylor volcanic mass and can be reached by shaft mining on the east side. Kerr-McGee was starting a mine there just before the collapse of the nuclear power industry.
  • A quadrathalon (bike, run, snowshoe, ski) makes the trip up and down the mountain each year.
