Uninhabited barrier island, accessible only by boat. The best place to find shells (whelks, sand dollars, shark's teeth) in NC. Surf fish for red drum. Home to protected migratory shore birds. Park on the northwestern point and walk around or snake behind the island if you have a shallow draft boat.

  • This is my description of Lea Island. I believe it is accurate.
  • there is a house here...the only left after mega overwash from hurricanes in the 20th century. It is still used, they have mannequins placed stategically in the windows so it appears always as if someone is there. This island is outer banks as it should be, wild
  • the house is gone burned down and washed away
