De Anza College was founded in 1967 on 112 acres of the site of the Beaulieu Winery. It is is named after the Spanish explorer Juan Bautista de Anza (who passed through the area in 1776).

De Anza College is a two year, community college operating on the quarter system. It is located in Cupertino, California in the heart of Silicon Valley. The campus has 61 buildings with approximately 116 classrooms, lecture halls and 43 labs. There is also an Olympic aquatics complex and a 5,000-seat Outdoor Events Arena.

De Anza College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
