Strombolicchio

Italy / Sizilien / Lipari /

"Little Stromboli" is a small rocky island 2 km to the northeast of the much larger volcanic island of Stromboli. It is possible that Strombolicchio represents a remnant of the cone of an earlier volcano in the same area, a predecessor of Stromboli. The crags rise abruptly from the sea, reaching a height of about 50 meters. A lighthouse was built at the top (after long leveling and construction work) in 1926.
