  • Writer Robert Bittlestone, along with linguist James Diggle and geologist John Underhill, in the book, Odysseus Unbound, make a convincing case that Kefalonia, or at least the western peninsula of Paliki, is in fact ancient Ithaka, home of Odysseus. They present strong evidence that a narrow sea channel once separated Paliki from what was then the separate island of Same, and suggest several locations for the settings of Homer's Odyssey. See some of my other notes for specifics.
