Malta

Malta / Northern / Mosta /
 island, island country

A small and densely-populated island nation comprising an archipelago of seven islands in the Mediterranean Sea. A country of Southern Europe, Malta lies south of Sicily, east of Tunisia, and north of Libya. The country's official languages are Maltese and English. Roman Catholicism is the most practiced religion.

The islands constituting the Maltese nation have been ruled by various powers and fought over for centuries, most recently the United Kingdom. Malta is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations. It has been a member state of the European Union (EU) since 2004 and it is currently the smallest EU country in both population and area.

  • Superb holiday island and friendly people, Valletta is a wonderful town, Blue Lagoon a fantastic sight and the seawater is clean and clear :-)We stayed at Mellieha Holiday Centre (for the 4th. time) and it is just perfect for families with kids. Spacious bungalows, playground, pool asf.
  • Malta is now home to members of the famous Bradley family, Roger, Sue and Peter from Newport, South Wales.
  • You really are a very sad looser!
  • Hey guys i can tell you they are far from africans. In fact they joined the European Union in 2004.
  • I first arrived in Malta on Nov. 14/1961 as as Navy wife. I have returned many times over the following years and watched the many changes some not for the best. The worst thing that happened, was after she joined EU and was presented with a large amount of cash, and the beautiful gateway into Valleatta was torn down and replaced with the current monstrosity. Legalised Vandalism is the only way to describe. But, the wonderful people have remained the same, with special regard for the British
