Marks the site of the signing of the Treaty of Dumplin Creek 1785 between representatives of the Cherokee and the unrecognized State of Franklin. The fort structures were very near here. The north-south trending "Great Warrior Path" ran along Dumplin Creek here and crossed a ford on the French Broad River near the mouth of Boyd's Creek where it picked up. A major subsidiary path branched off there back toward the mountains.
