55 Broad Apartments (New York City, New York)

USA / New Jersey / Hoboken / New York City, New York / Broad Street, 55
 office building, skyscraper, 1967_construction

402-foot, 31-story International-style office building completed in 1967 as a headquarters for Goldman Sachs. Designed by Emery Roth & Sons, the façade was reclad in 1996 with a new design by Fox & Fowle. The ground floor is deeply recessed behind grey granite squared columns that support the upper floors. The facades have vertical grey metal mullions, with dark-tinted glass and bronze-colored metal spandrels. There is a major setback above the 6th floor, and smaller setback above the 10th floor. The rest of the tower rises vertically to the top. The curtain wall wraps around all all four elevations; there is an area of windowless concrete on the northeast side.

The ground floor is occupied by Hale & Hearty Soups, and a Starbucks coffee. It is set to be converted to residential by CetraRuddy for Silverstein Properties and Metro Loft Management.
