  Manakkodykkayal was vrey important in history by serving water transporting passage from Kokkala to kodungallur (Musiris) 'VALIYANGADI' and 'KOCHANGADI'(now the kochi or maa-tt-aa-n cherry). Few anciant Greek merchants were played their livings in the banks of Manakkodykkayal. Later they converted as to others by changing their superior originality to local origin. But now it recalls. Even if the backwater area called 'Kaayal' is very rich by nature.Because it gives water for life and richness of mankind.
