This peculiar brick-square, with its wrought iron clock tower, was in 1964 chosen as the most beautiful public building in Sweden. Architect Artur von Schmalensee suggested naming it the Igloo, since the model for it was the Greenlandic igloo with its small entrance and a large central room. The City Hall has a beautiful interior and an extensive art collection and the building is open weekdays all year round.
