Benaulim Village has its name from hindu mythology. Lord Parshuram stood on the mountains and shot an arrow into the sea and then the sea receded to create a new land. The location where the arrow struck, was called 'bann alli' which means (the arrow arrived here). Till this date, locals call Benaulim as 'bannalli'. -cv
